Since I retired I am only crunching with one GTX460 and a Hex core i7 - maximum of 18 hours a day and only one discipline at a time now, Folding for the next few months at least.
One Quad converted to a HTPC, one used for messing about occasionally with Linux or repair test bed and one going mouldy in the roof space with no memory or PSU.
Well, I’ve got a GTX460 and a GTX550TI and they are both set to run the Long WU’s only and my 7 day average is currently running at 120k per day… and still rising!!!
I had the same, and when I set to no new work it became obvious why
It seems some units don’t terminate correctly, as I still had a large memory usage and trickle of GPU usage by a rogue thread. Eventually, that caused a bluescreen when I started playing CS.
Nice one DT… and with no errors this time!!!
We’ve just hit #130!!! :wiggle:
They seem to error more if I forget to pause the GPU when I start playing games, too busy to play games at the moment so allowed some new work to come down
There is a setting in the preferences to suspend GPU work if the computer is in use or to suspend BOINC if Non-Boinc load gets above a set level… you could try that and it might stop the errors.
Big thumbs up to the fiend man for almost singlehandedly pushing us towards the top 100 in GPUGRID. If I could give you a hug, I would!
I’ve been looking at GPU grid over the last couple of weeks and I really like what I see. I had always (wrongly) assumed GPUGRID was random number crunching such as pifast or other worthless crap - I didnt actually realise it was a dedicated medical project - and a bloody impressive one at that!!!
I am very impressed they have published several papers too based on crunching GPU grid has done, and they even link your crunching in to the paper that is published so you can feel like you really contributed to some solid medical research. I really like it.
There is one problem I have though - I have no GPUs!!!
I do have some 30 older Geforce 9300 cards but unfortunatly they only have 256MB of ram and GPUGRID requires 384MB+ and so won’t let me crunch at all on them.
