Any spare GPU power available - Nividia only

Want to flog one of those 460’s :stuck_out_tongue: ?

At the moment… n0… but maybe in a couple of months time I might :shifty:.

They have now released the CUDA4.2 client for GPUGRID and it seems less tolerant with overclocking setting.

Just before I went on holiday I ran some of the CUDA4.2 WU’s from the short queue and all but one error’ed out. After a bit of advice have returned my clocks to default and the first 2 completed no problem…

The 4.2 client has cut crunch times by a significant amount - I’d guess they run 25% quicker than the older 3.1 client.

Good news guys… today we stormed up to 99th!!! :trophy:

Well done everybody!!!

Wow… we’re flying up the table., now 87th and still rising… looks like we might even make the top 50 at some point!!!

Booooosh joined in the fun

Welcome to the party!!!

Bit of advice… the CUDA4.2 application that GPUGRID is running now is very sensitive to overclocked settings - just leave it at standard clocks and voltage and you should be alright… Also to maximise credit per day select long tasks only as they award more credit per day than the shorter tasks.

So far I have managed to resist the temptation to add another card to my stable… but maybe next month I’ll be tempted when I get a payout from an endowment policy that is maturing… I might just have enough left over to acquire a GTX670… :Plot:

I have had to suspend GPUgrid as the current heatwave is making my bedroom hot enough let alone adding the heat coming out of the pc to it…

Just docking for now… but ill be back on the weekend

Well done everyone… we are now up to #80 :trophy:

Have joined the cause now i have a gtx680

Welcome to the cause… GTX680 - nice.

The GTX660Ti is rumoured to be appearing over the next week and it’s between one of them or a GTX670 for my next upgrade. :Plot:

I have just replaced my GTX460 with an EVGA GTX670 2MB which should see a bit of a jump in my RAC.

You want to get rid of the 460? I need a temporary gfx card to play Planetside 2 tech test (and GPUGRID of coss) I dont want to buy a proper one until Pside 2 is oficially out and theres some benchmarks as to which one is the best!!
You want to get rid of the 460?

Butuz
It’s gone already…

It was a GTX460, the 768Mb version which was OK with the CUDA 3.1 app, but since they released the CUDA4.2 app for GPUGRID it was starting to struggle and my GTX550Ti 1GB was starting to outperform it.

If you fancy a decent card for doing GPUGRID I would suggest the GTX660Ti, which, from what I can gather, has performance on GPUGRID that almost matches the GTX670, but is cheaper and uses less power.

the tri-460 machine is back crunching

:kickbum::trophy::tiphat:

Good price.

Makes my case buckle under the heat, literally.

May have to go water as air can’t cope.

We’ve got quite an impressive output going at the moment… we are currently ranked #21 in RAC!!!

#20 now!!

By the way SCAN were doing on Today only Factory Refurbed EVGA GTX470 for £85 and GTX480 for £110 so I picked up a GTX480 for £110 posted and it was literally like new, in sealed EVGA packaging with all the see through plastic stickers all over it that you have to pull off. Basically it looked like brand new. Cant argue with that - better than buying a dusty second hand one from ebay!!

I am very pleased with the GTX480 - yes it runs hot and yes it is quite loud at full pelt, but it seems to be throwing GPUgrud units out like no tomorrow, and also it is allowing me to play the Planetside 2 beta at 1920x1080 with all details on high. Its very powerful for £100 odd!

Theyre still doing the 470 and 480 refurbs price gone up a little bit but still a bargain IMHO.

Happy crunching!! Butuz is indeed a happy cruncher and now a PC gamer for the first time in about 7 years!

Nice one Butuz!
