Gauntlet III?

the Planet has a lot of new Members, so is there an Interest at a new Gauntlet, Seti 1 is running but BOINC Astropulse is starting soon, so this will be the last Race…

regards
Sir Ulli

I’m up for it

nothing like going out with a bang huh

Actually I think it would be a great idea, one last good race with SETI I before Boinc takes over !

(Also as I feel to take a break from Boinc since its still so very unstable and I want to give them a chance to improve the program and not just get angry with them)

Unfortunately I know a lot of TPR members (to my big annoyance) is doing this Folding race where the prize is the XP1700, so I’m not that sure how many would be interested.

What do you say people !??

At the request of the :spam:Meister, is there anyone interested in a 3rd Gauntlet…?

D’oh!

Knew I’d forgotten to do something :frowning:

Bring it on baby!

DT.

as is mine

I respect your opinion, but “unfortunate”?

Have a look at some of these and then maybe you’ll understand why other projects may just be of interest to people…

Like I said, I respect your opinion but in my opinion these other projects are just as, if not more, important than what SETI@Home is trying to accomplish.

Happy Crunching!

Thanks Mulda

I also understand that all other projects than SETI some company could profit from and that is st*pid.

It might be ok if you do so only to use spare CPU cycles on some work computer perhaps, but to do so on my own build, expensive home computers, nahhh…!

I don’t understand your point. All information gain by Stanford from folding at home is freely available. You aren’t confusing folding with the United Devices project are you?

Obviously companies can profit by using the freely available information gained from Folding but that is the nature of the free market economies in which we live.

I won’t stop crunching for folding just 'cos some company might find a useful drug and make money out of it. In most cases the company will only have the right to be the sole suppler of said drug for a short period due to the nature of pharmaceutical intellectual property rights.

Seti does allow companies to make money out of it anyway thought their sponsorship sheme companies such as Sun and HP are able to get cheap advertising from the project. I have not problem with this either as long as the companies support the project.

Up for it. Nothing like finishing on a high. :driving:

I’m up for another gauntlet :driving:  What are the dates etc?

That is exactly my point and we all do as we se fit !

Noone will make money out of if we will find ETI and I don’t sponsor anyone with money !

I respect your point of view as long as you respect mine !

This is getting out of topic, so perhaps we could continue this conversation in another thread if someone feel that they want to  :offtopic:

Of course I respect your opinion. I just find it strange that’s all.

I’m sure someone will find a way to make money out of it ;). Anyone for a “We found ETI” t-shirt? I joke of course :D.

Me me, pick me…
