No production is not down but looks to be because it is distorted by yesterdays late stats.

It looks as though we are down on production and apart from the little server outage last night, the majority of the difference is due to the late stats yesterday. Whilst yesterdays was abnormally high, this one is consequently low. Normal production should be seen tomorrow.

kraut progresses 1 place to 6th showing that Innovation and Automation is superior to the Ancient and Arcane methods of Mojo’s.

The wrath of the GAteKeeper continues unabated and possibly fuelled by the echoes of the the wolf’s mighty assualts on The Principal’s office door as he runs past preecey, PMM and ReikiMaster in a 3-way:devil: placing him in 14th in his attempt to stop any further damage to the Halls of Learning and Wisdom.

Sir Ulli shows his nobility and proving his learning as he does what all good knights do in despatching the HairyMonster. One more notch in his weapon (Mincer!:nono: ) and the reward of 18th seat on the coucil of Lords.

I think this indicates that we have a couple of slackers:eek: though I save them from the :bondage: today since the stats delay and server outage might have played a part.

But then again…they should have been significantly higher in the first place so that it wasn’t so apparent :smackbum: :smackbum:

Mulhahaha, The Warden continues his assult on the tables with another

Lifemapper now running with a slighly higher priority than SETI for maximum effectiveness.

Top report! Thanks for the news Bob!

JUGGY has to restrain himself so he doesn’t give up our slowly stagnating effort at Folding and start with LifeMapper.

Great news once again… my steady production is looking to be hitting 100 a day so not too bad, although I will be losing a machine as I’ve sold it (dual p3@1Ghz), but the proceeds will be upgrading my 2 xp1600’s into at least 2200’s, maybe barton 2500’s. Hopefully this will see a drop in leccy bill and still higher output
Bad side is - need to now rebuild four machines as hard drives are moving round as well, got the sell the dual as a server with raid.

Go on…you know you want to show us how its done

Does SETI take a performance hit? And is the client only active when the screensaver portion kicks in?

/can’t be bothered to read the small print…

First great news again Bob cheers mate.

@Rids depends how you run it mate, background / foreground and on my machine Intel IV seti and mapper share about 60/40 in background mode.

Am I right in thinking this project makes good use of slightly crappier old hardware? I have a couple of old PII-400’s that are making a bit of a meal of SETI…

I think this because the woos are small

I’ll leave the answer to that to someone who is running it on a low spec machine :flip:

Yes. I put it on a couple PII 350s at work and it’s doing a couple/three units a day.

… and is there any performance gains by specifying a particular group of plants/animals?

I have personally found that plants are a lot quicker on my PII 200 as they only take around 13 hours instead of 16 hours each.

On my home machine, the difference is only a minute or two.

Top news Report bob

Curly

Keep it up Bob excellent news reportage

Thanks, Bob-A-Job

@Juggy - there are still some crunchers on the Folding team, but most of the non-seti power seems to be having a holiday over here atm. You are welcome to join in here or hold the fort in Folding

top news again mate

/looks in the bits box and wonders if seven more machines could get added cheaply enough

I run the lifemapper in background mode (24/7 mode) but increase the priority from idle to below normal, leaving SETI at idle.

This way lifemapper takes 80-90% of the CPU and SETI mops up the rest, other wise lifemapper does cause 100% CPU utilisation!

I’ve had good luck with “mammals”. But I think I’ll give “plants” a try since Bob-A-Job mentioned it he’s had good luck with them.

And here’s the most important production tip…

RUN TWO INSTANCES PER CPU!!!

Depending on what Lifemapper is working on, you can have anywhere from 5% to 25% of the CPU sitting idle if you only run one instance. That’s a crap load of wasted cycles.
BTW… I just added another 2GHz AMD home rig to the cause. I had some spare parts lying around that I was/am going to sell but I figured what the hell… I’ll fire them up. I could get it to 2.2 to 2.3GHz if I had a power supply but the one I’m using now is dipping down to +4.6v(and +12.8v) already so I can’t push her any farther.

Top report
