Best motivator would be if someone actually found something
Possibily the best solution would be small leagues all the way down, that way you would jump up leagues faster ( provided you were active ) but then you could argue that it means more when you actually manage to progress up a league if the leagues were bigger lol.
Either way 25 PL and 50 there after seems to be popular though I still favour 35 PL and 50 there after.

I can indeed.
For the record, I can discount zero members after a period of inactivty (say 3 months).
I can also parition the leagues based on WU ranges (0 - 50, 51-100, 101-500, etc) or as we do now, with fixed league sizes.
I think we should allow this thread to run for another day or so, then distill the ideas into another poll the result of which will be used to reorganise the stats.
I dont think its fair to discount inactive crunchers totally, perhaps creating a seperate ‘Reserves’ league would suffice.
I’m not sure that others hadnt been getting at this idea, but how about instead of (or as well as is even better) we have a Big Dumpers league - kind of like the Daily/Weekly big hitters but on a larger, more permanent scale.
It might encourage people to crunch more/harder if they could see themselves going up and down a legue thats based on workrate rather than number of WUs.

Not too keen on the super league Jedi league though, seems as if we are giving too much keudos to a minority…not really what TPR is about surely ?
Well if your happier with calling it the Saga League for the over 50’s foss… er I mean more experienced crunchers than we could do that too.
I’m not going to catch any of them anytime soon and splitting them off to their own padded cell gets me up to about 5th in the premier league.
If there was to be any exclusion of accounts with zero return after x months, it should only be the ones that are still at zero units. Quite a few people have parked their accounts here and haven’t contributed to them in months, my “riddlermarc” account is dormant at 10k and I don’t intend to add to it in the foreseeable future. I do, however, feel it’s a part of the Team and as such shouldn’t be excluded :nono: This is not a personal plea on behalf of my account, I just used that as an example to show that you can’t just exclude every account that’s inactive for a while
FWIW I’d be happy with more or less any of the suggestions so far

I know that I’m new here, but in my old team, the different leagues/divisions were based on the number of work units crunched and not just an arbitrary number of people. Perhaps the PL could be those crunching more than 20,000 units, Division 1 between 15,000-19,999, Divsion 2 10,000-14,999 etc.
I think there’s been a misunderstanding regarding the inactive members - the suggestion was to not show in the stats those memers with zero counts that had been inactive for longer than a specified period (this would obviously be when they joined). We definately would not remove members with one or more WU’s
This proposal could be implemented with either of the other two proposals (increased league size or league sizes based on WU ranges), but is an “optional extra” - not sure I’m in favour, but it can be done if desired and would help to reduce the numbers very slightly.

Good to hear you’re truly inactive :D.
I’m the next one down in the league to you (850 odd behind). Prepare to be stomped
Just got finished reading 50 posts. This one’s getting to be kind of long… All good ideas, especially that of removing those accounts with 0 WU’s and no activity for three months after having joined.
I also agree with someone, (dang it, forgot who said it…) that the best motivation would be to find a signal! That’s what attracted me to this project, but it certainly NOT what’s caused me to go mad (installing SETI@Home on people’s machines at work when they’re not looking, etc.). Actually, I do have permission for MOST of the computers I’ve installed it on… I think.
