Team shake-up

Can anyone tell me what difference it makes if you hold a “Rank” in the team, to not, anyone and everyone can promote the team.

If you feel you need to be promoted above your fellow members before prompting the team, then are you the right people for the jobs anyway?

It’s all about Kudos IMO and not what TPR was meant to be about.

I agree with this sentiment entirely, I for one would not relish the thought of being a mod the simpsons classic line “damned if you do and damned if you don’t” I am more than happy with the mod purely because 99% of the time I don’t even notice they exist. (Apart from speedo removing my yoda/queen mum pic Admittedly it was in the poorest of taste!). This thread degenerated quite quickly for no apparent reason as far as I can see, true (sorry rids) the vote was too constrictive but the intent was honourable as were the people put forward. Mojo & MAOJC have been here (and respected) since long before I joined (sometime in 2001/02) I have never had a bad thing to say about them or any of the mods (except Speedo removing my picture :haddock: :p) truth be told I don’t care who the mods are as long as I don’t notice them every day (and I ain’t one of them). Now lets all have a collective team :cuddle: and discuss this calmly

Now that’s where we might be starting to have communication problems. The forum is the forum and IRC is something quite different. I generally only go there when I’ve had a few too many Let’s keep this all in one place, ie here, so everyone can understand people’s various points and come to some rational resolution.

Balrog, I only ventured onto IRC because I was asked to - I never go on there otherwise. All I meant was that this whole thing escalated from some things that were discussed on IRC while I was on holiday, and upon my return I had to get onto IRC to try to sort things out.

Sorry, just a weeny thing - it wasn’t discussed in irc It was a mass msn. We had the meetings with yourself in the TPR irc room, but the BSFZ is nothing to do with it. You should venture in sometime, it’s usually a laugh with very little bickering or bitching

My sentiments exactly.

I joined TPR from a community that had corrupt forum moderators and an owner/admin who wasnt paying much attention. Last time I was there one of the bad mods was gone and the senior mod had started acting unilaterally, possibly out of sheer frustration as he always seemed like a reasonable guy before.
I gather several other members here have come from similar situations.

TPR is by comparison, as utopian as a paradise can get when it contains a number of outspoken rebels who refuse to be downtrodden.

Perhaps what’s needed is a rethink of the way Moderators are selected to reduce the opportunity for friction-causing comment whilst maintaining a fair and free election process. But thats really something for another thread.

As a side note I feel that DT and Alta would also make excellent candidates but do they have the time? There is no point nominating and electing someone who doesnt have the available resources to do a good job when someone else has already commited to doing it.
