Yes maybe the poll is flawed. So pm a mod and say so - if plenty of people do that I’m sure a rethink is more than likely.
As it stands the only option is to vote for one option or abstain. And I would echo the other comments in this thread to the effect of - vote, abstain whatever. State your case/justify your vote/query the process - fine. But please show some decorum while you are doing it.
Errrm…no…this is a free speach forum and if anyone whats to say something they should be allowed to and not be bound by a vote that is too ridged with not right to a say.
all i was saying was that that TPR dose not need “new blood” to liven up the place…no one has to become a mod to do this…just be youre selves and have fun…isnt that what its about? if not i am sorry. but i think people are over reacting here.
OK…I am abstaining from the poll…here’s why if anyone is interested:
Personally, I think things are ticking along pretty well atm. There seems to be increased levels of interest, due in no small part to BOINC cranking up, and other DC projects coming along with it. I found 3 pages of new posts this morning when I checked in, which is the most for a long time. We are doing well in the rankings - but could be better.
OK, so the organisational structure needs tinkering with, for various reasons such as Mincer going AWOL (if I understand correctly).
I offer some thoughts about organisations and structure.
An organisation is defined around having common purpose(s). TPR has a number, stemming mainly from interest in computers and DC as far as I can tell.
An organisation needs a structure, or else it isn’t an organisation!
That structure can take many forms, but the 2 most common are vertical or horizontal hierarchies.
Vertical ones tend to be more rigid and inflexible. The military is always the classic example. Communication tends to follow the chain of command. Fun is officially not an option.
Horizontal ones promote better cross flow of ideas - are more relaxed and flexible.
So what?
Well, all I am trying to say is that I feel we need to have as few layers of administration/modship/call it what you want as possible.
I am quite happy with the concept of specific people taking on the role of promoting the team internally and/or externally. I am very grateful for their efforts already. Having officially designated such folk does not in any way prevent anyone else from doing what they can. It can only help such efforts by providing a point of contact and coordination.
Finally, because it is very cold, I refuse to wave my willy at anyone.
This all makes me think ‘Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…got bigger problems with the team than stagnation and mods if we can’t even vote on something w/o all this.’ Personally I think that there should be another option on the poll, something like ‘Nah, it’s ok as it is’
I sense that people on the boards keep thier mouth shut sometimes for fear of starting a barney. I know i have. That’s not right is it :(.
Well said Ciccio, but the thread above is a personal attack on a fellow team member, if you have an issue with N20, then please keep in out of this thread and stick to Pm or Email, it will only create more problems
