What annoyed me today...

Having fixed the underlying misfire and rough idle it was going really well until cylinder two seemed to flame-out and suffer a bit of melting.

Changed the plug but cylinder two is still on strike.

some random guy annoyed me today…

Wanted all me details so i told him to F-off… and he got annoyed

It was probably Derek from EE that called you

Derek has, in his life, made some poor decisions and bad choices and is now seemingly reading from a phone sales script in a Mumbai call centre.

Kids, dont bunk off school or you too will pretend to work for EE under a fake name just to get my Card details, which I did give to him, from an old Nectar card.

"Oh that didnt go through, let me give that to you again " … repeats another mixed up card number

I was watching a webex slide presentation of some boring shite at the same time and this made 20 minutes of it interesting and I was getting paid while “Derek” was getting nothing back.

If you get one of these callers , see how many names you get him/her to answer to, Dave and Damian worked without any rebuke.

I must find that 419 site for scammer baiting

lol so true or " guys is the trace running now?"
D

Had new tyres fitted yesterday, forgot to reset the TMS so the car went into limp home mod until i stopped and reset it doh!!

That reminds me of an old two-stroke Honda i had when i was 16, had to carry a spare plug with me as it went through one a week :scream:

Faffed about with BOTH mowers today.

One will not draw fuel but it had last years E5/E10/E-thatsbollx in the tank.
Runs off easy start but the self drive mechanism is seized, so it can live in the hedge for a while

Old faithful had been drained, started ok with a splash of E5 so I mowed until it ran out and added more dinosaur juice.
All was good, until I needed to stop and move a scooter in the long grass, let go of the dead-mans lever…
It carried on running!
Jiggled the cable which promptly snapped making it unstoppable unless I pull the plug lead.

It only stopped when I steered it into some waist high nettles.

Still not considering an Electric one though

Closed the A14 @ 4:30 for no reason WTF :rage: :rage:

I missed the glowy sky stuff :frowning:

EV’s in general annoy me but Ford have gone just that bit further up the grumpy list.

The Capri is back and it is an EV.
But in reality, no it isn’t anything like the old Tail happy hooligan mobile, it is a honking great SUV thing.
Every recent comparison between the original MK3 and seems to avoid mentioning height but DDG provides the numbers, its a foot taller

Old : 132cm
New: 162cm

Look even closer and its actually a Volkswagen

THIS IS A CAPRI

I’ll join you with the hatetred towards what they are calling a Capri, they did the same to the Puma too, i’ll never own either but they make me very grumpy…

As is happens I had the opportunity to sample a New model Puma quite recently, as a loan car while the Insurance was settled on my wifes car.
The promise was a like for like vehicle!

We expected an SUV, XC90 or maybe a Green oval.
Instead we had an suv, Small, Underwhelming? VERY!

A Puma, automatic with a cranky gearbox apparently using some Neural Network Technology based on the Brain of a Squirrel and an Enthusiastic Labrador it would seem.
Motion was provided by choosing the wrong gear for the revs and kicking down when it felt like it and changing up obstructively to prevent the Making of Progress.
All the while making some noises that would be a worry for an actual owner.
Klunks, whines and klacking about with only 2,000 miles covered.

Its partypiece fail was the passenger seat.
Ford evidently engaged the Harlem Globetrotters for seat design.
I am 5 feet seven inches on a hot day, when I sat in the passenger seat, I could not see over the bonnet

The seat was height adjustable to cure this but at its lowest setting, Chewbacca would be able to sit comfortably in there while wearing a Top Hat.

Glowing paise that !

Reading this thread from the start up to 2010 was all just nostalgia up to this point then I realised all the smoke alarms have the same Chinese Golden Shower 9v batteries in them.

Today there was a tiny sprinkle of “OMG TRAFFIC CHAOS” or Snow.
Not enough to see hedgerows with a fresh crop of German cars but just enough to start being annoying.

I got snowballed by my youngest but that was just funny.

There is snow and there is SNOW but today was Tesco Value Snow and appeared to be no issue at first but then it transformed into a type of snow never seen by the Daylight dodging developers at Ford.

After a few miles a Dashboard warning popped up
COLLISION AVOIDANCE SENSOR OBSTRUCTED

Ok so none of that NCAP stuff will be doing anything useful so I will employ the looking where I and every other F*ker are going in regard to not crashing the car, just as per most cars in the million miles I have required.

I press on and get a full Dashboard message “DANGER WILL ROBINSON”
or something like that.

A few minutes later, devoid of any dashboard view or instrument the message starts to flash, its always helpful to be distracted while driving…
NO Wait, its that other thing, don’t be distracted by using your phone, let the bloody dashboard do that for you.

I will look at this when I get home, so the band played on.
Beep
Beep
Beep

Shut up or I will pull over and go the Full Basil Fawlty on you, dont make me.

Traffic is clogging up, stop flaming start

Then a display button pops up with a prompt “[OK]”
I love text based buttons like on a ZX81 or DOS window…

So I click the nice [OK] option to make it stop

To paraphrase Tropic Thunder “NEVER GO FULL OK”

The pulsed BEEP changed
Now I am stuck in traffic with a continuous Smoke Alarm volume BEEEEEEEEEEEE
(there is no P as it does NoT sToPPP)

I turn the engine off, silence
Traffic moves, start up… Even before the Diesel has clattered into life that bloody noise is back.

Now I have Tinnitus.

Some needless research, The Collision Avoidance system disengages above 50Mph

“Sorry Officer, I was channeling my Inner Sandra Bullock, I had to stay above 50 so it didn’t go off!”

Did DT pull up beside you on a skateboard saying ‘pop quiz MoFo’ ?

Sarge

Nope, nobody on a MK1 hoverboard has ever challenged me to a TLGP.

Random fact, my TPR T-shirt is still a perfect fit.
The passage of time has erased the possibility I bought it in Fattie-XL size all those years ago.

Fruit of the loom T-shirts were made from the Good stuff it seems.
I have not resorted to hacking the labels out when they go all scratchy.

This is a bit out of character, the idea that nothing has annoyed me on any particular day since November last year seems implausible at best.

But never fear, I have put on the shiny hard-hat of Vexation(1)

What is my Vex of the Day ?

The trigger for Vex mode has been LinkedIn and its suggested content.
This is about 80% adverts for crappy tat that was probably on sale next to the Ronco Buttoneer and the Remington Fuzzaway back when Television had only just gained a fourth channel.

“What to Do When Your Car Fault Light Suddenly Comes On”

Just swoosh the manifold sensor in a bit of brake cleaner to hide the symptoms

1 - Yes I checked it is a word, used mostly in Trump-world though.

" The power of righteous vexation is what keeps so many old Democrats hanging on in nursing homes long past the time they should have kicked off "

Perhaps being Vexed is enough to keep the pulse going but being angry make cause coil shuffling, noted.
It worked for Victor Meldrew

Ford wanting £178 for a new steel wheel (mk1 transit connect) because its silver or £198 if i want it to be black, but if it was a 16" wheel (mk2 transit connect version) rather then the 15" then it would be £96… ford just why…
